My addiction…
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but I have a bit of an odd personality… I am a bit dominating, very outgoing, very gullible about certain things and finally…very addictive. I can’t seem to leave something I’m interested in well enough alone.
For instance,
Video games. Recently I allowed the tyrant that is Microsoft to fix two (yes, two) of my Xbox’s because they had broken due to what is affectionately being referred to as “The Red Ring of Death” (RROD among “us nerds” :pushes-glasses-up-on-nose:) I got both of them back over the weekend and have been WEARING one out every chance I get. I even went out and bought two new games with the excuse that I had missed out on the time when they were broken and being repaired.
I noticed something last night though, my wife came home earlier than usual, sat with me on the couch for probably an hour and went to bed. All without me putting the controller down.
This can’t happen again. I’m making a conscious effort to make sure that I give enough attention to her from now on instead of the stupid Xbox and the people I know on there. Don’t get me wrong, I will still play my Xbox probably more than I should…but I’ll be sure that it isn’t interfering with my important things.
Anyone else like this? If so, please comment.
The bad thing is I do this with almost everything…. I do it with wine, I do it with cigars, I do it with cars…. I just can’t help it.
Luckily, lately, I’ve been able to channel a lot of this addictive energy to the things of God. I’ve read more Bible in the last year than I have in the last 27. I’m not saying that to brag, honestly I don’t know why I said that…
Anyway, that’s my thought for today, comments?
(coughing) Dear Terry (future credential holder),
Fill in the blank with whatever you want me to say to you about your addictions.

I didn’t mean that I overdo it with the wine and cigars…should have worded that differently. What I meant to say was that I tend to REALLY get into them and research the heck out of them so that I know what I’m doing.
